The problem I am having is that the Intel 82578DC Gigabit Network Connection will not start on boot with the following message: 'This device cannot start. Disabling and then enabling the device after boot makes the network connection work again without any problems, but as soon as I reboot the problem occurs again. I recent purchased a new video card and in order to get it working I had my BIOS and motherboard software updated (v9 to v20, a huge jump, as I apparently last updated in 2012). After the update my new graphics card worked perfectly, but I ran into a problem with my Network Adapter.
Intel R 82577lm Gigabit Network Connection
On startup my internet connection is broken. When I access the Device Manager, it shows me that Network adapters, specifically my Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection has an alert, and the message is: 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'. Now, if I either reboot OR I right-click on Intel(R) 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection, and select Properties > Advanced > Value, and select either 'Auto Detect' or 'Force Master Mode' it resets and I have internet access (at least until the next time I power up my PC and need to repeat the process). If I try this again, it breaks and I need to reboot.
Intel 82579lm Gigabit Network Connection Code 10
I assume I need to reinstall my drivers and to this end I visited the Gigabit website and downloaded PROWinx64.exe (as I am running Windows 7 64-bit). However, I am reluctant to run it in case it makes the situation worse. So I figured I would check with the experts first and make sure I was taking the correct course of action.
I have a Intel® Desktop Board DP55KG (see http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/DP55KG/DP55KG-overview.htm), which has a Intel 82578DC Gigabit Network Connection on board. Additionally, I have a Intel PRO/1000 PT Dual Port Server Adapter in a PCI express slot and I am running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. Also I am running with Intels latest network driver, in the 82578DC questions this means 11.6.92.0 with driver date 2010.04.12.

Any suggestion how to fix this? I have seen this problem on another Intel S3420GP board as well in Windows 7 that is.

Update the BIOS.
- Download the update from the Intel site
- Execute the file, it will update your BIOS automatically.
- Don't power down!
- Wait and all should be fixed.
Intel 82579v Gigabit Network Driver Download
I had the same problem with the DH55TC and Windows 7 x64. No amount of adding or removing the driver helped, or hard or soft rebooting. However, I did try reinstalling the latest Intel driver and unselecting all additional options like the property pages and teaming/VLAN support. With just Drivers checked during the install, the adapter worked.
